Mindfulness

In a country where the King is building a Mindfulness City, mindfulness is not just a word or concept; it is the way people live.
Bhutan invites you to pause and simply be. Here, time gently slows down.
Free from distractions, whether walking through a quiet valley or sitting on your balcony, each moment becomes more intentional and vivid.

The Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) is Bhutan’s visionary 1,000-square-kilometer Special Administrative Region, designed to blend modern economic development with the country’s spiritual heritage and Gross National Happiness (GNH) philosophy.

Bhutan is the destination for slow travel; nature itself forces you to slow down, step back, and experience what can be left for tomorrow. Our journeys focus on the essence of Bhutan, that means there is time to rest, share and reflect.

You could say that almost every experience in Bhutan is a form of meditation. This is the result of the slow way of life in the country, the constant presence of nature around you, and the genuine attention local people pay to the small things in life. Let us know if you would be interested in joining a led meditation in one of the nunneries or monasteries, and we will arrange this for you.

Pottery (Dzazo or Jim Zo in Bhutanese) is an ancient living tradition with deep spiritual roots. Rooted in the earth element, the creation of handcrafted, unglazed vessels naturally relies on focus, patience, and rhythmic shaping.

The Restful Mind philosophy, based on the teachings of His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa, is infused in the daily life at the Sanctuary. We think and act consciously, in our daily work and interactions, with each other and our guests. We realize we all are part of, and responsible for, the well-being of all that and those who surround us.
